Looking to refresh your space on a budget? These cheap bedroom decor ideas from Amazon will be so helpful!
I just went through the process of decorating our master bedroom for the first time since we moved into this house two years ago! Other rooms were a priority but once I got started, I couldn’t stop.
It has been SO nice to find affordable home decor on Amazon because I can refresh the space without breaking the bank. We didn’t need any major furniture pieces so I was really able to focus on the details.
In this post we will discuss the main areas to focus on when it comes to decorating your bedroom and what affordable items are available on Amazon.
For our room, I stuck to neutral, calming and minimalistic pieces that really make for a relaxing space.
It’s time to turn your bedroom into the relaxation oasis you’ve you’ve been dreaming about.
This post is all about cheap bedroom decor!
Dresser Decor
The top of your dressers is a great place to start when decorating your bedroom. I say this because they tend to be a mix of decor and functional items that you use on the daily. I tend to start by adding any items I know I need or want on my dressers for easy access before I place any decorative items.
For example, on my dresser, I have two jewelry organizers that fit the theme of my room. This is so I can easily select the items I am wearing for the day and return them at the end of the night. Having them anywhere else in my home wouldn’t make sense at the moment.
Once I have those items placed, then I see what space I have left. I usually love to incorporate 1 – 2 vases on my dresser. They add a nice touch while not being overpowering. Some examples of the vases I am referring to are below.
As you can see these are really minimalistic pieces. Whether you add pompas or flowers is up to you but they are truly a great piece on their own.
Here are some examples of decorative jewelry organizers that would compliment the vases.
Now because we’re staying away from clutter, I truly wouldn’t add much more than that. If you have less jewelry and more decorative pieces you want to incorporate, that is completely fine! Just try to avoid overcrowding the space.
Night Stand Decor
Ok I am truly obsessed with my nightstand. And not because it’s anything special, but because it houses so many things! I will go over some of the items I have on top of my night stand.
When it comes to decorating the top of my nightstand I stick to a few simple items.
- A lamp
- A candle or a diffuser
- A pillow spray
- Coasters
As I mentioned previously, I want this space to be calming, therefore we are staying away from having too many items on the surfaces. I like to pick a simple lamp that has a USB port for my phone charger. This way I don’t have a lamp plus multiple chargers or charging stands.
Once I have my lamp picked out, I usually pick out a candle or an essential oil diffuser. I usually like to keep the diffuser because it adds to the relaxation aspect, but sometimes you get a good candle that you just really want to enjoy.
I just started using a pillow spray and OMG. Game changer. I chose one off Amazon that has a cute label so that it serves as a decorative piece when it sits out.
Lastly I love keeping a coaster or two on my nightstand. Not only does it protect the nightstand itself, but it definitely adds that final decor item. I am the queen of having multiple drinks at once so I tend to keep two.
As you can see, everything has that neutral and minimalistic feel to it so that everything ties together and doesn’t throw off the vibe that we’re going for.
Mirrors
I waited SO long to pick out a bedroom mirror. I looked high and low for an affordable option that wasn’t too small. I’m not even joking when I say that I just upgraded from the “tall” mirror I had in my college dorm room. I thought about investing in a higher end piece. But per usual, I ended up with this mirror from Amazon that I cannot stop recommending.
It is the perfect, height and width and it gives you the option to hang it or have it free standing. You can not beat it for the price and having it delivered to your house via Prime if you have it. I am so glad I didn’t frivolously spend on a high end mirror I didn’t need.
Wall Decor
Ok let’s talk walls. Depending on your space, you may have a lot of empty wall space or very little wall space. We live in a cape so we really didn’t have much wall space to work with. However, I do have a couple recommendations for some smaller pieces.
You can also check out my post on affordable macrame decor items for some great bedroom decor options!
One great option for wall decor is decorative mirrors. These are different than a full length mirror that is more specific for getting ready. These options may or may not serve as much of a functional purpose but really make the space look nice.
I have these triangle mirrors above my nightstand and I am absolutely in love with them. They give some dimension to the space and take up some of the bare wall space we had.
Shelving or wall art are also great options for decorating the walls in your bedroom. I personally do not have any art hung but one of the shelving pieces I did choose to add above our bed is very similar to the one below.
Area Rug
I personally think that an area rug really completes the space of any room. The best way to place it is to bring the rug just about halfway up under your bed with the rest covering the floor around your bed. When it comes to deciding on how big or small of a rug you should purchase, the rule of thumb is 18 inches from the side of your queen bed.
Obviously you can adjust based on the size of the bed you own, but that is a good measurement to keep in the back of your mind. For reference, I have a king size bed and I went with a 9×12 and it really improves the look of the space.
Amazon is a great place to purchase rugs from if you are looking for an affordable option but I tend to also check out Wayfair when they are having any of their major sales.
A few additional items that I highly recommend when it comes to bedroom decor are some real or faux plants and some string lights! They really add to the overall tranquil vibe of the room.
Hopefully by this point you feel inspired to give your bedroom a little makeover! When it comes to decorating a space, remember there are so many great pieces out there for affordable prices. Making over a whole room does not mean you have to shell out all kinds of money.
Although it took us a while to get this room decorated, I grabbed pieces as I saw them. Once I had everything we took a few days to get things placed. It truly made a world of a difference to not just have furniture and blank walls.
If you’re anything like me, you spend a decent amount of time in your bedroom. It is my favorite place to relax (especially now). It was important to me to find some pieces that helped complete the space and bring the vision to life while staying on budget.
Although these pieces from Amazon are great, I also keep an eye out at Target and Home Goods for similar pieces at similar price points. However, it is nice to know that Amazon has tons of great options that can be shipped so quickly.
Good luck turning your bedroom into the space you’ve always wanted!
