If you are anything like me, you want to be prepared with all of the cleaning supplies that you could possibly need. As a new home owner myself, I am recommending the products below that I cannot live without.
Below are all of the cleaning supplies you need for your kitchen, bathrooms, main living spaces and more. After reading these product reviews, you are going to feel extremely prepared for keeping your new home as clean as possible.
This post is all about the top-rated cleaning supplies that every home owner should know about.
Best Cleaning Supplies
1. Bathroom Cleaner
Below are my go-to bathroom cleaners that I make sure to have in stock at all times. Some of these items can be used in other areas of the house (yay for saving money). I always suggest having a few units on hand so you can keep them nearby. Bathrooms are one of the places you will be cleaning the most frequently.
They are filled with bacteria so you want to make sure you are disinfecting and using products that kill germs.
- Shower – Clorox Plus Tilex: This will insure you are targeting mold and milder which both love to grow in damp places
- Toilets – Clorox Bathroom Disinfecting Cleaner and Clorox Toilet Bowl Cleaner: These two products help me ensure I am not just getting the inside of the toilet, but also all of the surfaces that people sit on and touch on a regular basis
- Floors – Mrs. Meyer’s Lavender Multi Purpose Cleaner: I combine the concentrate with HOT water and use my O-Cedar mop to attack the floors once they are vacuumed
- Mirrors – Sprayway Glass Cleaner: This is my holy-grail glass cleaner that leaves my mirrors and windows streak free. Use with a microfiber towel for optimum results
- Dusting: Swiffer Dusters: These are by far the most effective dusters I have used (you can always choose a generic to save money)
2. Kitchen Cleaning Supplies
Kitchens are one of the hardest places to keep clean because of how frequently we use them! However, I have noticed that these products assist best with ensuring my space is as clean as it possibly can be.
Some of these items you may use more frequently than others, but I swear by keeping these supplies on hand at all times. This way you can reach for them whenever you are in the cleaning zone! And as I mentioned before, some of these products may be repeats which will help with saving money in the long run.
Instead of listing by location, let me show you how you can use one of my go-to cleaning supplies favorites in a number of different areas.
- Counter Tops
- Stove Tops
- Refrigerators
- Tile Floors (with my O-Cedar mop)
- Cabinets and more!
Add the concentrate to water in your favorite spray bottle and you’re off!
The other product I cannot live without in my kitchen are my Scrub Daddy sponges. They are extremely inexpensive, dishwasher safe and have numerous uses. The advanced technology they created is truly amazing and is a must-have for a new home owner.
Homes commonly have stainless steal appliances like mine. As beautiful as they are, it is the worst when every finger drip or water mark shows up on them. Using a product that not only cleans but polishes at the same time is the way to go. However, the last thing you want to do is use something that is going to scratch or damage the stainless steel.
Weiman is a top-rated brand on amazon that can be used as a spray with a microfiber towel or in wipe form. Both are great but I prefer to use the spray and towel method. You always want to go with the grain to avoid scratches as well as give that sought-after, polished glow.
3. Living Space Supplies
This section is going to cover living rooms, dens, offices, bedrooms, etc. Although you have have areas you want to disinfect, here you are mainly going to focus on dusting, vacuuming, etc.
The products that I have already discussed that can be used in these areas are below!
- Swiffer Dusters
- Sprayway Glass Cleaner for your windows and the
- Mrs. Meyer’s Multi Purpose Cleaner for light switches and other surfaces
However, we can’t forget those baseboards! Here I like to combine my favorite fabric softener with some water. I spray the solution on a microfiber towel and get to wiping. Not only does it work like a charm but it also smells amazing.
I am lucky enough to have hardwood floors which means for me, my Dyson vacuum and my steam mop are essentials for keeping my floors clean. You can find the links to my exact models on my recommendations page.
Always remember to start from the top and work your way down. You don’t want to find yourself wiping dust from the fan onto your floors!
4. Cleaning Supplies Organization
One of the most commonly asked questions I get is how I keep all of my cleaning supplies organized. As I mentioned previously, I make it a point to have a few units of my cross-over items in multiple locations. I suggest deciding first on where you think you want to store your cleaning products.
Then I see what I have and what organizers may work best for the space. Keeping everything together makes it easier for you to see what you have on hand and what you might need to re-stock.
If keeping multiples of certain products in your home doesn’t make sense for you, consider a caddy for your cleaning supplies! This is a great way to have everything in one place. Then you simply take your caddy from room to room as you clean. This is a great solution for the cleaning supplies suggested in this post because so many can be used in a number of different rooms.
This cleaning supplies caddy is affordable and lets face it, super stinking cute. However, there are a ton of affordable options you can choose from. Don’t forget to focus on functionality as well!
5. Spray Bottles
There are a TON of spray bottles to choose from online. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference.
However, I have to recommend this one in particular. Not only is the continuous spray satisfying as heck, but it also allows you to use your product more wisely. There are a few things I like to use these for.
I have one in my kitchen and bathroom with water and Mrs. Meyer’s multipurpose cleaner. For my living room, I have one with water and fabric softener for my baseboards (this also doubles as an amazing air freshener). And lastly, I have one with dawn dishmop and water which can literally be used anywhere. I highlight recommend using it as maintenance cleaner in your shower.
Waste can’t always be avoided, but I love the concept of using a product that can be mixed with water in a spray bottle. Not only does it make the product last longer, but it also cuts down on how many plastic bottles you are going through. Any hack that cuts down on waste is a win in my book.
6. Cleaning Supplies Storage
Most home owners try to utilize their space effectively since storage may be hard to come by. I like to store the majority of my cleaning products under my kitchen and bathroom sinks. However, one of the most frustrating issues we come across is that the piping under the sink can cramp our style. This product has been a life-saver to so many.
It allows you to maximize your space and reach for things quickly when you are trying to complete your cleaning tasks.
If you made it this far, I can almost guarantee you are a cleaning fanatic like me. I make sure to do a ton of research on as many cleaning supplies products as possible. I want to make sure I am taking care of my home while also making sure I am disinfecting when I need to.
Having a clean space is good for our overall health. Mentally it allows us to be less distracted, it brightens our mood and it allows us to focus on other tasks once it is complete. Our kitchens and bathrooms also need to be clean so our overall physical health is not affected (mold is a big no-no).
Moving into a new home comes with a lot of challenges. It is important to be prepared with cleaning products that you know are already tested and recommended. One less thing you have to focus on! Let’s also be honest… that first deep clean before you move in all of your things is the most satisfying clean of them all.
