It's almost cookout season!
I am a huge fan of hosting cookouts and fires at my house. This was one of the things I always looked forward to when I had an apartment that wasn't great for hosting. However, if you don't have everything you need, it can seem pretty overwhelming.
Now that I host cookouts somewhat regularly, I have learned what items are super helpful to have on hand so that I feel prepared when I have people over.
There is truly nothing better than having family and friends in your backyard with the grill and fire pit going while also having food and drinks for everyone. We will cover everything from hosting essentials to fun ideas for things to do during your cookout.

Cookout Essentials
When I think of cookouts I think of good food/beverages, music, lawn games, fires, pretty lights and so much more. We have only been in our house for two summers so I am gearing up hardcore for this summer. These are some of the things I either use all of the time or have my eyes on for this year.
Anker Portable Speaker
Having a good portable speaker on hand is a must. This way you can move it to any spot in your yard and don't have to worry about plugging it in. Anker is a great brand with over 77K 4.5 star ratings. I have a portable phone charger from this company and absolutely love it.
Mesh Food Covers
There is nothing worse than having bugs on the food you leave out so people can pick throughout the cookout. These mesh covers are super affordable and allow you to keep things out without worrying about bugs or dirt getting in your food.
Coleman Hard Cooler
This cooler has been an absolute game changer for us. You truly can't beat the quality for the price. This cooler keeps ice frozen for over 24 hours, even when it's in direct sun light. You can fit a ton of beverages in it and a lot of ice. We use this for cookouts, camping, trips, etc.
Edison Light Bulk Solar Powered Lights
These solar powered light bulbs are so stinking cute. We have them wrapped around our deck and they last for so long. It's nice to not have them plugged in and they only come on when the sun goes down. They really elevate your backyard!
Tablecloth Clips
These tablecloth clips are super affordable and you get 30 of them. No one wants their tablecloths being blown around so these secure your table cloth super easily. We've all been there trying to tape down our tablecloths and these seem so much better.
Marshmallow Roasting Sticks
What is a cookout without smores? These marshmallow roasting sticks are super affordable and come in a pack of five. I love that they come with a bag for storage and the wooden handle. They extend to 32 inches so you don't have to sit super close.
Outdoor Utensil Caddy
This outdoor utensil caddy is super cute and practical. I like that it has three compartments for utensils but also a spot for paper plates. The matte black metal is perfect because it will match with any theme.
Giant Janga
There are so many lawn games to choose from but this one is on my wish list! This brand is super affordable and comes with the storage bag. If you're not into janga, corn hole, ladder ball, spike ball, bacci, kubb polish horse shoes and kan jam are my other faves!
Acrylic Serving Trays
There are so many serving tray options, but I think these are perfect for so many things. You could fill them with appetizers, snacks, desserts, etc. They would also be perfect for smores supplies!
Mason Jar Drink Dispenser
These are perfect for any premade drinks you might want to offer. I love the stand and lids. These would be great for lemonade, sangria or even flavored water!
Digital Meat Thermometer
I tend to get paranoid when grilling for large groups of people haha. The goal is to make sure things are cooked through without drying anything out. This meat thermometer is super helpful so I know when to pull things off of the grill.
3-Tier Serving Platter
One of the biggest issues I have while hosting is space. Even with extra folding tables, I struggle to find room to get all of the food out. I love this tray because it has their tiers and takes up less space on the table. This would be perfect for apps, snacks or dessert!
Well if I wasn't in the cookout mood, I sure am now! I am so stinking excited to have people over and enjoy time outside. These cookout essentials are meant to make hosting as carefree as possible!
